About this role
Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite network delivering fast reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond existing networks. This broad scoped Manufacturing Engineer position provides ownership of multiple satellite assemblies during the production ramp phase with critical design for manufacturability input.
Daily work includes identifying and resolving assembly issues to keep builds on schedule while driving efficiency improvements through tooling automation and process changes. You will spend 30 percent on the shop floor implementing new processes and performing production development testing.
The team is fast-paced and data-driven collaborating with design tooling dynamics thermal test and electrical engineering teams. Members hold each other to high standards while constantly seeking ways to improve product performance quality and cost.
You will analyze production and test data to implement improvement actions develop quality control measures and execute roadmaps for capacity increase and process simplification in spacecraft hardware production.
Requirements
- 4+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
- Experience with prototyping and implementation.
- Knowledge of data logging techniques and handling large data sets from test campaigns.
- Familiarity with test equipment error logs and troubleshooting hardware and software integration problems.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and disposition non-conformances to support manufacturing.
- Lead production equipment design procurement installation and qualification.
- Define material flow planning and manufacturing process definition for mechanical sub-assemblies.
- Support space hardware testing including tooling design and data analysis.
- Apply Design for Manufacturability and Design for Testability principles to optimize production and test efficiency.
- Design test cases for functional performance and stress testing of hardware systems.
- Process test results including visualizations and analysis using scripting tools or data analysis software.
