About this role
Hermeus is a venture-backed defense aviation company reclaiming the lost art of rapid iterative prototyping to build the fastest aircraft in the world. As Lead Avionics Engineer, you will lead design, analysis, and testing of electrical systems for hypersonic vehicles. You will ensure safe and efficient operation in a fast-paced environment.
Drive system trades, requirements capture, component selection, schematic capture, prototyping, bring-up, debugging, and documentation. Create development and qualification testing campaigns to exercise designs to their limits. Support hardware through production, integration, and flight.
Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and work with experts from other teams. Drive changes to make systems more efficient, manufacturable, and reliable. Challenge assumptions and build strong professional relationships.
Provide technical leadership across the organization, manage risk and change, and drive new technology introduction. Mentor less senior engineers while working on groundbreaking hypersonic technology. This role offers a unique opportunity in a collaborative, high-speed development setting.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in multiple areas: electrical hardware design, control systems, instrumentation and signal conditioning, digital communication busses, analog design and simulation, power electronics, harness design
- 1+ years leading a technical engineering team
- Ability to travel on short notice to support test campaigns
- U.S. person as defined by U.S. export controls
