About this role
K2 is building the largest and highest-power satellites ever flown, unlocking performance levels across every orbit. Backed by $450M from leading investors like Altimeter Capital, Redpoint Ventures, and T. Rowe Price, with $500M in signed contracts, we're mass-producing platforms for LEO to deep space. You will support development of RF and avionics systems for the Mega Class satellite.
Serve as a key hands-on liaison for development, assembly, integration, and test of advanced satellite avionics systems. Build, route, and terminate RF and avionics harnesses including coax assemblies. Set up and execute tests using spectrum analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, and power meters.
Work closely with RF, Electrical, and Mechanical engineers to troubleshoot hardware and inform design during prototyping. Mentor junior technicians and support standardization of tests. Ensure compliance with cleanroom, ESD, and safety protocols in a fast-paced environment.
Thrive in a highly iterative production setting at a groundbreaking Series C space startup. Contribute to multiple launches planned through 2026 and 2027. Help develop the solar system toward a Kardashev Type II civilization.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in environmental testing preferably in the aerospace industry
- Experience with small to medium RF parts and components
- Must be able to read drawings, test procedures, and schematics to build and test hardware
- Experience working in a highly iterative production environment and ability to adapt
- Proficiency with RF test equipment including spectrum/network analyzers, oscilloscopes, and power meters
- Hands-on experience building and terminating RF harnesses and coax assemblies
- Familiarity with cleanroom protocols, ESD controls, and avionics troubleshooting
Responsibilities
- Build, route, and terminate RF and avionics harnesses, including coax assemblies and high-frequency connectors to specifications
- Set up and execute RF and avionics tests using spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, and power meters
- Support testing campaigns from integration through environmental test and ATP, documenting configurations, calibration, and results
- Assemble electromechanical assemblies and assist development of production processes for first-time builds
- Work closely with engineering to troubleshoot issues on RF and avionics hardware
- Collaborate with RF, Electrical, and Mechanical engineers during development and prototyping to inform design and verify performance
- Mentor junior technicians and support standardization of RF and avionics test procedures
- Ensure compliance with cleanroom, ESD, and safety protocols; maintain test lab equipment and inventory
