El Segundo, US · Full-time · $150,000 – $200,000

About this role

At CesiumAstro, we develop out-of-the-box communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. We seek a skilled Senior Propulsion / Turbomachinery Engineer I with experience in aerodynamic and mechanical design of radial and axial turbomachinery systems. To conform with U.S. Space Technology Export Regulations, applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or protected individuals eligible for required authorizations.

You will design, analyze, and test critical components for propulsion systems, focusing on liquid rocket engines turbomachinery. Execute CFD analyses including steady, transient, and multiphase to evaluate performance of compressors, turbines, and pumps. Perform structural and thermal FEA to ensure mechanical integrity under operational loads.

Design aerodynamic flow paths and optimize turbomachinery elements using specialized software tools. Develop CAD models, prepare designs for prototyping and manufacturing, and define system requirements. Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams in mechanical, aerospace, and controls engineering.

Provide technical support through all product lifecycle phases from concept to qualification and production. Develop test programs, analyze experimental data, and apply results to design iterations. Join a dynamic, cross-functional environment for hands-on, autonomous work with passionate, forward-thinking individuals.
