Washington, US · Full-time · $111,690 – $156,366
About this role
At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our diverse team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight.
This role is part of the Lunar Transportation business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. We are building sustainable infrastructure for transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will develop and test cryocoolers designed for zero-boiloff applications.
You will focus on the rapid design and implementation of novel turbine and compressor hardware for future spaceflight systems. Your domain expertise will be utilized for all aspects of designing, building, and testing turbine and compressor hardware for use in Brayton cycle cryocoolers and power systems. Relying on your expertise, you will utilize computational fluid dynamics and finite element analysis expertise for aerodynamic design, primary and secondary flow path design, thermal analysis, and structural analysis of high-speed turbomachines.
Validate CFD models against test data and make recommendations for design changes and future test campaigns. Contribute to a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion while earning trust and maintaining positive relationships. Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills enable direct collaboration with external parties including government and commercial entities.
