About this role

At Saab in West Lafayette, IN, join a team manufacturing the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk military trainer aircraft for the United States Air Force. Saab seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to develop knowledge in manufacturing technology. The role handles all production technical work for assembly and installation.

The Manufacturing Engineering function covers calculation, production preparation, process documentation, and verification. It is accountable for manufacturing engineering development, techniques, and qualification of new products based on Saab and customer requirements. Serve as an integral link between the design team in Sweden and production team in West Lafayette.

Responsibilities include contributing to production systems, working methods, and influencing design for low costs without compromising function and quality. Coordinate Producibility Reviews and execute process planning for current and new products. Drive continuous improvement for efficient production in alignment with Lean principles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline
  • 2+ years of related experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in Aerostructures
  • Driven self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset and proactive approach
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to effectively collaborate across functional areas within an operation
  • Ability to work well independently, as well as collaboratively in a team setting
  • Must be able to travel internationally
