Boeing

Oklahoma City, US · Full-time · $85,000 – $110,000

About this role

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security organization seeks entry-level aircraft focused Aerodynamics Engineers for the Flight Systems Capability Aerodynamics Team. Engineers will provide engineering and technical decisions for Boeing Military Aircraft including B-1B, B-2, B-52, Military Derivative Aircraft like E-7 AEW&C, E-3 AWACS, and Tankers such as KC-135, KC-767. This position is located in Oklahoma City, OK.

This Associate level role offers on-the-job training under close supervision. Assignments include learning aircraft aerodynamics analytical methods, tools like computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and wind tunnel testing. Tasks involve generating aircraft flight performance data charts and assessing stability & control characteristics for various platforms.

The team supports diverse aircraft and projects in a 100% onsite environment. Engineers assist with certification and qualification processes of aerodynamic characteristics for flight vehicles. The role requires US Citizenship for obtaining a US Security Clearance.

Opportunities exist to develop skills in aerodynamic analysis and testing. Support development of test requirements for wind tunnel, ground, and flight testing. Enhance technology readiness and improve vehicle performance while reducing cycle time and cost.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, physics, or mathematics
  • General understanding of aircraft flight characteristics
  • General understanding of aerodynamic analysis methods such as wind tunnel testing or computational fluid dynamics
  • Bachelor's or Master’s in engineering, with Aerodynamics or Aerospace emphasis
  • Familiarity with aerodynamic analysis principles, processes, methods, and aerodynamic testing of flight vehicles
  • Familiarity with aircraft performance and stability & control
  • Experience with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis
  • Experience with wind tunnel and flight testing of aircraft designs

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design and analysis of aerodynamic/aerothermodynamic flight vehicles to ensure requirements are met
  • Support development of new and improving existing technologies, tools and processes to enhance technology readiness, improve vehicle performance and reduce cycle time and cost
  • Assist with development of test requirements including wind tunnel, ground, flight, accident and incident and product support testing of aerodynamics or aeroheating/thermal characteristics
  • Generate aircraft flight performance data charts
  • Assess stability & control characteristics for various platforms
  • Assist with certification and qualification processes of aerodynamic characteristics of flight vehicles
  • Assist in training
  • Work under general supervision

Benefits

  • On the job training provided
  • Relocation based on candidate eligibility
  • Opportunity to work on Boeing Military Aircraft (B-1B, B-2, B-52) and Military Derivative Aircraft
