About this role
The Boeing Global Services Safety Team is seeking a System Safety Engineer to join the BGS-G Safety Engineering Team, focused on providing system safety engineering capability for government defense products and services. This role supports programs including F/A-18, F-15, F-22, C-17, AH-64, CH-47, KC-135, and KC-46.
In this role, you will perform and document safety analyses for systems and software, analyzing the integration of complex airplane systems and their system-level effects. You will demonstrate hazard risk mitigation and control methods to customers and regulators, and identify systemic root causes of safety issues.
You will join a team of safety engineering professionals collaborating with cross-functional teams and leaders to develop comprehensive safety strategies. The team is committed to operationalizing system safety and delivering innovative solutions that prioritize product and mission assurance.

Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or non-US equivalent directly related to the work statement
- 9+ years of related work experience for Senior (Level 4) or 14+ years for Lead (Level 5)
- Experience with aircraft systems (e.g., navigation, avionics, fuel, hydraulics, pneumatic) including operations and troubleshooting
- Experience performing system safety analyses and hazard assessments for aerospace systems
- Knowledge of safety standards such as MIL-STD-882E and related regulatory requirements
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams on safety requirement definition and validation
Responsibilities
- Perform and document safety analyses for systems and software
- Analyze the integration of complex airplane systems and their airplane-level effects, failure indications, and flight crew actions
- Document safety analyses, hazard mitigation, validation, and verification activities in compliance with standards such as MIL-STD-882E
- Demonstrate safety hazard risk mitigation and control methods to customers and regulators
- Identify safety issue systemic root causes and recommend corrective actions using industry best practices
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define, validate, and integrate safety requirements
- Participate in tests and analyses to verify that systems meet defined safety requirements
- Resolve multi-functional technical issues
