About this role

The Boeing KC-46 Pegasus is the USAF’s new aerial refueling tanker aircraft, designed to support multi-role missions including refueling, cargo/passenger transport, and medevac airlift. As a mission systems avionics engineer, you will support engineering design, integration, test, certification, and hardware/software management for assigned subsystems.

Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating system-level integration, developing test plans and procedures, and executing critical tests to validate performance against requirements. You will also provide troubleshooting support for production labs and aircraft and conduct technical issue investigations with Root Cause and Corrective Actions (RCCAs).

This role works closely with suppliers, Boeing software team members, and specialty engineering Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) focusing on safety, electromagnetic emissions, and cybersecurity. The KC-46 is a military commercial derivative based on the Boeing 767-2C, modified per USAF specifications for aerial refueling using Hose & Drogue or Boom systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or equivalent directly related to the work statement.
  • 3+ years of experience in engineering.
  • For Level 4: 5 or more years of related work experience or equivalent combination.
  • For Level 5: 10 or more years of related work experience or equivalent combination.
  • ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or Master’s/PhD in electrical engineering (preferred).
  • Experience with avionics system integration, test, and certification processes.
  • Familiarity with FAA and military airworthiness certification procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering design, development, analysis, testing, and certification of mission avionics systems for seamless integration with software and higher-level systems.
  • Support the design, development, validation, and verification of system-level requirements.
  • Assist in development of test plans and procedures in support of certification activities.
  • Coordinate system-level integration for mission avionics hardware and software.
  • Support definition and execution of critical tests to validate design performance against system requirements.
  • Provide technical management of suppliers and Boeing software team members to ensure compliance with design requirements.
  • Coordinate FAA, military certification, and Boeing airworthiness activities for mission avionics systems and components.
  • Conduct technical issue investigations and Root Cause and Corrective Actions (RCCAs).
