Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network designed to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers worldwide, from households to organizations in underserved areas. We're seeking a hands-on Senior Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer with expertise in requirements management, design for manufacturing, and hardware/software development for testing. This role focuses on optimizing for high volume production and meeting cross-discipline requirements.

The engineer will lead test system validation, software/hardware integration testing, and innovative architectures for manufacturing test lines. Responsibilities include data analysis using MATLAB, Python, or similar tools, troubleshooting yield issues, and driving system test campaigns. Daily work involves designing test setups and supporting hardware subsystems for satellite bus validation.

This position suits a highly collaborative individual working cross-functionally with design and hardware teams. You'll provide design for testability feedback, define test strategies at contract manufacturers, and develop procedures for production support. The environment emphasizes quick, effective execution in a fast-paced aerospace setting.

Growth comes through leading reviews, gate releases, and cross-functional tradeoffs impacting performance, schedule, cost, and risk. Requirements

  • Experience leading the design, automation, deployment, and support of large-scale infrastructure
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
  • Experience with Linux/Unix
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
  • 5+ years of systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement experience
  • U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted as refugee or granted asylum due to export control laws
  • Experience with distributed systems at scale
  • Experience writing technical documents, project plans and progress reports to leadership and stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Lead development test system validation
  • Lead software/hardware integration testing
  • Lead innovative software/firmware/hardware architectures and flows for multiple manufacturing test lines
  • Lead review and analysis on data using tools such as MATLAB, Python, or similar
  • Investigate and troubleshoot yield issues during prototype and production builds
  • Drive and prioritize execution of system test campaigns
  • Design and develop software/scripting test setups and supporting hardware for various subsystem validation of the satellite bus
  • Define test strategy, implement and optimize test setup/processes at the CM including design and qualification of test fixtures, test equipment, and test software
