Munich, DE · Full-time · €48,000 – €62,000
About this role
At TYTAN Technologies we develop AI-driven autonomous air defense systems that counter unmanned aerial threats at scale. We protect people, critical infrastructure, and European sovereignty through cost-efficient UAV platforms.
As a Junior Avionics Engineer you will integrate flight controllers, companion computers, sensors, radios, and payload systems into fixed-wing and multicopter interceptors. The role centers on real hardware integration across communication architectures such as MAVLink, CAN, UART, and Ethernet.
You will contribute to hardware-in-the-loop testing, bench testing, lab bring-up, and flight test activities including system monitoring and post-flight analysis. Close collaboration with Systems, GNC, and C2 teams ensures avionics subsystems function reliably in safety-critical environments.
The position offers direct exposure to embedded Linux, autopilot software, and fault detection work from day one. You will grow within a deep-tech defense company shaping the future of autonomous air security in Europe.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field
- Hands-on experience with embedded Linux systems and basic system bring-up through coursework, thesis, internship, or personal projects
- Familiarity with communication protocols such as CAN, UART, or Ethernet
- Basic proficiency in Python and/or C++ with clean, readable code
- Hands-on experience with autopilot software such as PX4 or ArduPilot, or robotics middleware such as ROS2
- Curiosity about hardware and software interaction in safety-critical real-time systems
- Ability to work on-site in Munich and legally authorized to work in Germany
Responsibilities
- Support the integration of flight controllers, companion computers, sensors, radios, and payload systems into UAV platforms
- Assist in implementing and validating onboard communication architectures including MAVLink, CAN, UART, and Ethernet
- Contribute to hardware-in-the-loop testing setups, bench testing, and lab bring-up activities
- Debug hardware-software integration issues across avionics subsystems
- Write and maintain Python and C++ scripts for system configuration, logging, and test automation
- Support flight testing activities including system monitoring, data logging, and post-flight analysis
- Document system architectures, interfaces, and integration workflows
- Contribute to system health monitoring, fail-safe definitions, and fault detection
Benefits
- Join a deep-tech defense company shaping the future of autonomous air security in Europe
- Work hands-on with real UAV hardware from the first weeks
