The HW Verification & Validation Engineer will ensure compliance of airborne electronic hardware with the DO-254 assurance process. This role participates in all verification and validation activities throughout the product lifecycle, from planning to certification.
Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing hardware lifecycle documentation, validating verification strategies, and ensuring traceability between requirements, design, and results. The engineer coordinates with hardware designers, FPGA engineers, systems engineers, and quality assurance teams to maintain process compliance.
This position offers the opportunity to work directly with customers and certification authorities during audits and technical reviews. The engineer will help shape verification methodologies for high-reliability avionics systems, contributing to Clue's continued growth.
Requirements
- Strong technical understanding of hardware development processes and verification methodologies for aerospace embedded electronic systems.
- Experience with DO-254 assurance process and certification requirements for airborne electronic hardware.
- Ability to technically review project lifecycle data and validate verification strategies.
- Knowledge of hardware lifecycle documentation including PHAC, hardware plans, and traceability matrices.
- Familiarity with schematic and HDL (VHDL/Verilog) reviews for hardware designs.
- Experience in test case definition, functional testing, and edge-case/robustness testing at hardware level.
- Understanding of configuration management and process assurance principles for critical systems.
- Capability to coordinate with cross-functional teams including hardware designers, FPGA engineers, systems engineers, and quality assurance.
Responsibilities
- Participate in all Verification & Validation activities for airborne electronic hardware developments under DO-254 guidelines.
- Review and assess technical compliance of the complete hardware development lifecycle, including planning, requirements, design, implementation, verification, and configuration management.
- Validate the scope and coverage of verification activities to ensure hardware designs and test campaigns demonstrate compliance with system and hardware requirements.
- Review and validate test cases, procedures, and verification methodologies for full requirements coverage and traceability.
- Ensure traceability and consistency between requirements, design, implementation, verification results, and validation evidence.
- Review hardware lifecycle documentation including PHAC, hardware plans, requirements, design documentation, verification procedures and reports, and compliance evidence.
- Define, review, and execute verification activities at multiple levels: requirements verification, design verification, schematic and HDL reviews, functional testing, robustness testing, and integration testing.
- Participate in technical reviews, audits, and certification support activities with customers and certification authorities.
