About this role
Northrop Grumman seeks an Associate Structural Engineer or Structural Engineer for its Aeronautics Systems Sector. Employees have opportunities to work on revolutionary systems impacting lives worldwide, from stealth bombers to moon landings. The position is on a weekend shift, 3x12 schedule Friday to Sunday 7AM-7:30PM.
Candidates perform classical static strength hand analysis, Durability and Damage Tolerance (DaDT) analysis, and finite element modeling for discrepant detail parts and assemblies from metal and composite materials. They develop and document detailed structural analyses supporting aircraft repairs, including free body diagrams, internal loading, shear and moment diagrams, and stress calculations.
Analyses support Material Review Board (MRB) and Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP). Candidates collaborate in a team environment, prioritize multiple responsibilities, comprehend complex problems, and develop solutions. Knowledge of aircraft structural design criteria and nonstandard repairs is a plus.
