The Airframe Design & Integration Engineer tackles complex structural and systems challenges throughout the product lifecycle.
This role involves providing technical solutions to production line issues on structural and system installations. Engineers prepare structural and systems layouts, interface drawings, installations, assembly, and detail drawings. They also maintain technical knowledge of airframe structures developments.
Work closely with Stress, Systems, Manufacturing, Quality, and test groups, as well as other engineering departments, internal/external customers, Methods, Procurement. Provide technical direction to junior design engineers for day-to-day tasks. Ensure effective management of assigned design activities in a cross-functional team environment.
Support design and program reviews with partners and suppliers while statusing projects for functional management. Gain awareness of civil aircraft certification rules and procedures. Experience on Bombardier business jet platforms, specifically Global 7500, is a definite asset.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in airframe primary and secondary structures design including systems installations
- Understanding of airframe configuration, optimization, loads, stress analysis, materials, manufacturing processes, tooling concepts and structural in-service requirements
- Expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5), Dimensional Management, and ability to perform manufacturing tolerance stack ups
- Experience with CATIA V5/Enovia or Teamcenter/NX
- Understanding of civil aircraft certification rules and certification procedures
- Strong leadership, communication and inter-personal skills
- Good working knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Office, CATIA V5, Enovia, Knowledge Based Engineering (KBE)
Responsibilities
- Provide technical solutions to production line for all structural and system installation issues
- Provide technical direction to junior design engineers to accomplish day-to-day tasks
- Ensure effective management of assigned design activities by closely working with other engineering departments, internal and external customers, Methods, Quality and Procurement
- Maintain technical knowledge and awareness of developments related to airframe structures
- Closely interface with Stress, Systems, Manufacturing, Quality and test groups
- Prepare structural and systems layouts, interface drawings, installations, assembly and detail drawings
- Support design and program reviews with partners/suppliers
- Status projects for functional management
