About this role

A vacancy for an Aerodynamics Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Getafe. The successful applicant will join Aerodynamics Department within Flight Physics Centre of Competence in ADS Engineering. Our team is responsible for the aerodynamic development of Airbus Defence & Space aircrafts.

Diverse activities include external shape aerodynamic design and optimization, computational fluid dynamics, generation of comprehensive aerodynamic models on performance, handling qualities and loads in steady and unsteady mode. These tasks involve experimental wind tunnel test campaigns. All carried out in a multidisciplinary environment of Flight Physics.

Collaboration occurs with specialists from other international partners involved and disciplines relevant for physics of flight, such as structures, loads, stability and control, mass properties. The role ensures optimized aerodynamic solutions and data delivered to customers on time, cost, quality. It supports programmes' overall design and systems integration needs throughout life cycles.

Opportunities include developing expertise in numerical and experimental aerodynamic prediction tools, acquiring aerodynamic technologies consistent with company strategy. Linking with external research community in aerodynamics and multi-disciplinary air vehicle design. Excellent upskilling opportunities and great development prospects are available.

Requirements

  • Educated to Master’s degree level in Aerospace Engineering
  • PhD level in Aerospace Engineering will be valuable
  • No experience in Aerodynamics is required
  • Any experience in aerodynamic design and characterization will be valuable
  • Experience in numerical aerodynamic prediction tools will be valuable
  • Experience in wind tunnel tests will be valuable
  • Experience in CAD tools, Matlab/Python scripting will be valuable
  • Spanish required

Responsibilities

  • Design air vehicle external shapes and provide comprehensive aerodynamic models and data on performance, handling qualities and loads in steady and unsteady mode
  • Ensure that optimized aerodynamic solutions and data are delivered to customers on TCQ (time, cost, quality)
  • Develop and maintain technologies, methods and tools, skills, knowledge and competencies relative to Aerodynamics disciplines
  • Contribute to the achievement of all vehicle projects aerodynamic and flight performance requirements within prescribed time, cost and quality objectives
  • Develop expertise in the appropriate use of numerical and experimental aerodynamic prediction tools
  • Acquire and develop aerodynamic technologies in a manner consistent with the Company Strategy
  • Link with external research community in the field of Aerodynamics and multi-disciplinary air vehicle design and optimization
  • Link with all disciplines relevant for physics of flight, such as structures, loads, stability and control, mass properties
