About this role

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks a Senior/Lead Aerodynamics Engineer (Aero-Stability & Control Analyst). This role leads team activities into high angle of attack flight testing, including departure resistance and spin recovery for the EMD program. It also covers configuration maturation of T-7A aircraft variants for new customers’ needs.

Detailed activities include pre-flight predictions for flight testing, flight test monitoring, data reconstruction and analysis. Assess T-7A aero database fidelity compared to flight test results. Evaluate air data source-error correction accuracy.

Report to a BDS Flight Engineering Senior Manager with guidance from a senior Aero Stability and Control Technical Lead. Join the Flight Systems Engineering Capability handling Fighter Aircraft, Unmanned Aircraft, and Missiles/Weapons Systems in the St. Louis region.

Flight engineers apply expertise in Aerodynamics, Propulsion, Guidance, Navigation & Control, and Loads & Dynamics. Requirements

  • Expertise in Aerodynamics and Stability & Control analysis
  • Experience with high angle of attack flight testing including departure resistance and spin recovery
  • Proficiency in pre-flight predictions for flight testing
  • Skill in flight test data reconstruction and analysis
  • Knowledge of aero database fidelity assessment compared to flight test
  • Familiarity with air data source-error correction accuracy
  • Background in Guidance, Navigation & Control

Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate employees performing engineering and technical activities in Aero Stability and Control
  • Execute Aero Stability and Control aspects of the T-7A EMD program during high angle of attack flight testing phase
  • Transition to T-7 Variants configuration maturation
  • Use program tools and best practices to predict flight characteristics
  • Analyze flight test data and assess aero database fidelity
  • Develop correlations for flight-based aero model updates
  • Participate in flight test readiness reviews, test plan and test matrix development, test card reviews
  • Conduct flight test monitoring for safe envelope expansion
