About this role

Boeing Test and Evaluation (BT&E) Safety is seeking a Lab Test Systems Safety Engineer to lead test safety activities for military aerospace programs in Berkeley, MO. The ideal candidate will apply safety management system (SMS), systems engineering, and industrial engineering methodologies to proactively identify and mitigate potential test-related product and personnel risk exposures throughout the product test life cycle.

This role includes hazard identification, risk assessment, safety requirements development, mitigation verification, and compliance with regulatory and company safety standards. The selected candidate will evaluate engineering plans and test plans for inclusion of design practices that support design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA) concepts, and will support labs including Structures, Electromagnetic, Wind Tunnel, Metrology, Environmental and Thermodynamics.

You will collaborate frequently with senior leaders and a wide range of subject matter experts in a multi-domain lab test environment. The position requires an operational and applied science orientation with a strong propensity to solve complex challenges, and a background in industrial engineering or manufacturing engineering is highly beneficial.

You will be surrounded by highly motivated safety professionals and have the opportunity to influence safety across a suite of current and future military aerospace products. This role requires a systems thinking approach to mitigate risks along with an in-depth understanding of test hazards, and the ability to work collaboratively across program and test capabilities to support the test statement of work.

Requirements

  • Experience applying safety management system (SMS), systems engineering, and industrial engineering methodologies
  • Ability to proactively identify and mitigate potential test-related product and personnel risk exposures throughout the product test life cycle
  • Strong propensity to solve complex challenges and willingness to learn new skills and processes
  • Operational and applied science orientation with a background in industrial engineering or manufacturing engineering highly beneficial
