Tampa, US · Full-time · $95,000 – $130,000

About this role

Metrea delivers effects-as-a-service to national security partners across airborne ISR, electronic warfare, and special mission aviation. The Aerospace Engineering Group provides integrated capability for rapid modification and fielding of mission-specific aircraft through its Aircraft Integration Centre and Aerospace Design teams.

In the Aircraft Modifications Avionics Engineer role you will deliver engineering design and certification support for avionics integration on general aviation, business, transport, and military derivative aircraft. Work focuses on major alterations and Supplemental Type Certificate development under both FAA and Peregrine ODA authority.

Daily tasks center on reviewing customer Statements of Work, analyzing aircraft specifications, and producing interconnect drawings, installation data packages, and manual supplements. Occasional aircraft surveys require less than 20 percent travel while maintaining strict adherence to CAD standards and electrical load budgets.

The position operates inside a Part 145 facility where operators and engineers work under one roof. This structure connects design directly to field effect, supporting continuous innovation cycles on certified, mission-ready assets.

Requirements

  • Four+ year engineering degree preferred.
  • 2-10 years working experience in designing and installation of avionics systems upgrades.
  • Experience in a special missions modification environment preferred.
  • USA Passport and availability for occasional domestic and international travel.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer requirements including Statement(s) of Work.
  • Review aircraft and equipment specifications to determine system interfaces and electrical load budgets.
  • Perform aircraft surveys and collect required data when needed.
  • Create interconnect drawings for all affected avionics systems using AutoCad.
  • Create Installation Data Package including fabrication, assembly, installation drawings, and master data lists.
  • Write Engineering Orders and create installation instructions.
  • Create aircraft manual supplements for maintenance and operations.
  • Apply electrical engineering standards using provided CAD templates, formats, and standards.
