At TYTAN Technologies in Munich, the Avionics Engineer supports development of AI-driven UAV platforms that counter aerial threats and protect critical infrastructure across Europe.

The role centers on integrating flight controllers, companion computers, sensors, radios, and payload systems into both fixed-wing and multicopter interceptors.

Daily work includes implementing MAVLink, CAN, UART, and Ethernet architectures, running hardware-in-the-loop tests, debugging hardware-software issues, and maintaining Python and C++ scripts for configuration and automation.

Engineers collaborate with Systems, GNC, and C2 teams while contributing to system health monitoring, fail-safe definitions, and flight-test data analysis in a hands-on defense hardware environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Hands-on experience with embedded Linux systems and basic system bring-up through coursework, thesis, internship, or personal projects
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as CAN, UART, or Ethernet
  • Basic proficiency in Python and/or C++ with clean, readable code
  • Hands-on experience with autopilot software such as PX4 or ArduPilot, or robotics middleware such as ROS2
  • Curiosity about hardware and software interaction in safety-critical real-time systems
  • Ability to work on-site in Munich and available to start immediately or within a short notice period
  • Legally authorized to work in Germany with no visa sponsorship available

Responsibilities

  • Support the integration of flight controllers, companion computers, sensors, radios, and payload systems into UAV platforms
  • Assist in implementing and validating onboard communication architectures using MAVLink, CAN, UART, and Ethernet
  • Contribute to hardware-in-the-loop testing setups, bench testing, and lab bring-up activities
  • Debug hardware-software integration issues across avionics subsystems
  • Write and maintain Python and C++ scripts for system configuration, logging, and test automation
  • Support flight testing activities including system monitoring, data logging, and post-flight analysis
  • Document system architectures, interfaces, and integration workflows
  • Contribute to system health monitoring, fail-safe definitions, and fault detection
