Moog’s Military Aircraft Group is a global leader in designing primary and secondary flight control actuation systems for military aircraft like the F-35 Lightning II and V280 Valor. Join the team in Torrance, CA as an Aerospace Assembly & Test Technician reporting to the Assembly and Test Supervisor. Work onsite performing precision assembly and testing of flight actuators.

Perform precision assembly on complex production and repair actuators using mechanical, hydraulic, and electromechanical skills. Utilize measuring equipment like dial indicators, calipers, and micrometers to maintain dimensional accuracy. Adjust alignments through shimming and other blueprint-specified methods.

Conduct test operations on mechanical or hydraulic actuators with specialized fixtures and tools. Diagnose test failures, recommend rework, and hold units for engineering disposition. Ensure conformance to acceptance test procedures and current revision letters.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED preferred; otherwise demonstrated ability to understand and apply all verbal, written and computer work instructions in English
  • Minimum 3 years or more of Assembly experience (mechanical, hydraulic, electromechanical or electronic)
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certification is a plus
  • FAA Safety Sensitive position; must meet FAA's drug and alcohol testing program requirements
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Assembly experience in the Aerospace industry
  • Experience performing precision assembly and test of hydraulic, mechanical and electromechanical flight actuators
  • Experience with precision measuring equipment such as dial indicators, calipers and micrometers

Responsibilities

  • Perform precision assembly on complex production and repair actuators
  • Adjust or align through shimming and other means of mechanical adjustments specified by blueprint or other specification limits
  • Utilize a variety of mechanical measuring equipment such as dial indicators, calipers and indicating micrometers
  • Maintain dimensional accuracy on assemblies utilizing torque wrenches, fixtures, tooling, gages and other measuring devices
  • Perform various test operations on production or repair mechanical or hydraulic actuators
  • Diagnose common test failures and recommends or performs rework to correct discrepancies
  • Hold problem units for engineering disposition
  • Ensure that units are set up and tested in conformance with current revision letters
