The Senior Avionics Engineer develops avionics and electrical solutions for platform improvements, expansions or replacements. Work covers both existing platforms and new developments while meeting civil certification standards such as FAA, TCCA and EASA plus military programs including CH-146.
Daily tasks include analyzing project and certification requirements, supporting system integration, drafting electrical schematics and preparing test plans. The role also involves updating requirements in the technical management tool and coordinating with avionics suppliers on displays, navigation and system health.
You will join the avionics and systems engineering team based in Mirabel, Québec. The position requires English communication with Bell teams, suppliers and customers outside Québec while supporting aircraft and SIL testing plus initial installations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- Experience with civil certification standards (FAA, TCCA, EASA)
- Familiarity with military programs such as Canadian government CH-146
- Knowledge of avionics systems integration, electrical loads and EMC analyses
- Ability to draft certification plans, qualification plans and compliance matrices
- Experience supporting aircraft and laboratory testing plus first article installations
Responsibilities
- Analyze project, production and certification requirements and develop technical solutions for aircraft avionics and electrical systems.
- Support system integration including component selection, interface compatibility, electrical schematics and system installation requirements.
- Write test plans and procedures, analyze results and prepare qualification reports for functional and certification testing.
- Update requirements in the technical management tool in response to change requests.
- Prepare and maintain certification plans, qualification plans and compliance matrices.
- Perform analyses supporting certification of installed or modified systems including electrical loads, thermal and EMC.
- Support aircraft testing, system integration laboratory testing and troubleshooting.
- Coordinate with avionics suppliers on development, integration and testing of displays, navigation, sensors and system management.
