1w1 week agoGeorgia Tech Research Institute
Atlanta, US · Full-time · $50,000 – $70,000
About this role
The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is the nonprofit, applied research division of Georgia Tech, with over 2,900 employees across eight laboratories performing more than $940 million in research annually for government and industry. GTRI researchers combine science, engineering, economics, policy, and technical expertise to solve complex problems. The co-op program alternates three semesters of full-time work at GTRI with full-time school semesters.
In the Applied Systems Laboratory's Autonomy Technology Transition Division (ATTD), co-ops support research on autonomous uncrewed aircraft programs for Department of Defense sponsors. Expertise areas include autonomous systems, systems engineering, avionics engineering, embedded software development, robotics, algorithm development, test and evaluation, and hardware- and software-in-the-loop environments. Students work under guidance of GTRI researchers on these platforms.
ATTD focuses on autonomous UAS platforms, leveraging laboratories for development and testing. The team conducts research across diverse scientific and technological endeavors using state-of-the-art equipment. This environment supports collaboration with experts in perception, tracking, and vehicle control.
The co-op offers extensive opportunities to rapidly improve technical and leadership skills through multiple terms before graduation. Georgia Tech's mission develops leaders who advance technology and improve the human condition, guided by values like excellence, diversity, collaboration, and innovation. Participants contribute to inclusive innovation addressing global challenges.
