Boeing

Ridley Park, US · Full-time · $98,600 – $162,150

About this role

The Boeing Company seeks an Aerodynamics Engineer for aerodynamic analysis of rotorcraft in Ridley Park, PA. The Aerodynamics Group handles analysis and flight testing of rotorcraft performance, prediction and measurement of aerodynamic loads, interior and exterior noise, and subscale wind tunnel testing of rotorcraft and rotor systems.

This role involves conducting performance analysis of production rotorcraft and supporting conceptual sizing of new rotorcraft. Engineers predict airloads using tools like vortex lattice and computational fluid dynamics software. They also support wind tunnel or flight test data acquisition and reduction, with travel anticipated.

Team members contribute to aerodynamic design of airfoils, rotor blades, propellers, and fuselage outer mold lines. Responsibilities include trade studies, formal optimization of rotor and propeller blades, CFD model development with grid generation, and aeromechanical models for rotor loads prediction.

Support production program IPTs in optimizing aerodynamic design of external components like antennae and survivability equipment, assessing impacts on aircraft performance. The position offers involvement in innovative rotorcraft configurations and advanced analysis techniques within a specialized rotorcraft-focused group.
