Leidos Small Airborne Effectors Division designs, develops, tests, and produces small to medium airborne missiles, unmanned vehicles, and payload effectors for defense customers. The team seeks an Applied Aerodynamics Engineer for a fast-paced, critical program at the Huntsville, AL campus. Have a passion for kinetic effects and missile systems?

Apply analytical and semi-empirical aerodynamic prediction tools to the design and analysis of flight vehicles. Support aerodynamic design trade studies, performance assessments, testing, and development of high-fidelity aerodynamic characterizations. Requirements

  • BS degree in Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution with minimum GPA of 3.25
  • 2-4 years of industry experience in a related field
  • Demonstrated capabilities in programming languages Python or Matlab
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate constructively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Willing to try and learn new skills, and refine existing skills
  • US citizen able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
  • Resident of North Alabama area or willing to relocate for on-site work in Huntsville, AL

Responsibilities

  • Apply analytical and semi-empirical aerodynamic prediction tools to the design and analysis of flight vehicles
  • Support aerodynamic design trade studies
  • Conduct performance assessments of flight vehicles
  • Support testing of aerodynamic characteristics
  • Develop high-fidelity aerodynamic characterizations of flight vehicles
  • Analyze flight vehicle aerodynamics using Python or Matlab
  • Perform aerodynamic modeling for airborne missiles and unmanned vehicles
