About this role
Near Earth Autonomy is creating a future where autonomous flight is commonplace and safe. Our technology enables aircraft ranging from sub-meter to full scale to autonomously inspect, map, survey, and transport. The Aerospace Systems Engineer contributes to developing autonomy systems for aviation through requirements, integration, and testing.
The role focuses on system definition, design reviews, developmental testing, and hardware, software, and system verification. Responsibilities include authoring and validating requirements, tracing components to test artifacts, and preparing design reviews. Verification covers test planning, execution, and flight testing.
Embedded in a cross-functional product team, the engineer works closely with hardware, software, robotics engineers, technical managers, and flight operations staff. The position is based in Pittsburgh, PA, primarily in the office with field time. Travel occurs once to three times per quarter for field testing.
Over time, the Systems Engineer helps improve systems processes to enable operational deployment of safe and effective autonomous aircraft. Occasional remote work is available, less than 20%. Due to funding, the role is restricted to US persons.
