General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is a global leader in munitions, energetics, weapons, armaments, and missile subsystems. The Manufacturing Engineer I (Chemical) plans, designs, and constructs manufacturing facilities, determines specifications including location, materials, and structural design, and resolves technical problems while recommending production improvements. Chemical engineering education and experience are highly preferred.

This role develops, evaluates, and improves industrial manufacturing methods using knowledge of product design, materials, fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment, assembly methods, and quality control standards. Analyzes workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow, and designs equipment and workspace layouts for maximum efficiency. Determines parts, equipment, tools, and processes to meet manufacturing goals per product specifications.

Estimates production times, staffing, and costs for management decisions, communicates manufacturing capabilities and schedules, and confers with vendors on product specifications, equipment, and materials. Evaluates products against specifications and quality standards. Works in a culture guided by honesty, trust, transparency, alignment, integrity, innovation, customer satisfaction, and collaboration.

Requires conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures, performs routine assignments with existing procedures, and receives instruction from senior roles. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree and 0-3 years' experience
  • Engineering degree required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Chemical Engineering Degree highly preferred
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Develops, evaluates, and improves industrial manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
  • Determines the parts, equipment, tools, and processes needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions
  • Communicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes
  • Confers with vendors in order to determine specifications of products and arrange equipment, material purchase, and parts
  • Evaluates products based on specifications and quality standards
