About this role
Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aerodynamics Engineer to join the core engineering team. This role is responsible for the aerodynamic integrity of advanced gas turbine products, from initial concept through detailed design and field support. The Turbine Aerodynamics Group holds technical responsibility for aerodynamic design and analysis.
Lead the preliminary and detailed definition of flow path and airfoils for gas turbines. Design turbine exhaust diffusers and collectors. Support new engine programs, product upgrades, and uprates through comprehensive aerodynamic analysis.
Develop and maintain proprietary analytical tools and software to improve design efficiency and predictive capabilities. Collaborate frequently with Mechanical Design, Heat Transfer, and Performance Groups. Ensure designs meet all program requirements for manufacturability, cost, durability, and performance.
Actively participate in field issue resolution related to product durability and manufacturing. Work effectively in inter- and intra-disciplinary team settings. Engage with strong analytical skills to handle complicated tasks efficiently.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
- Several years of relevant gas turbine aerodynamics experience (7+ years preferred)
- Current experience and familiarity with 1-D, 2-D, and 3-D aero design tools and methods
- Proficient with coding using Python, C, C++, or similar languages for engineering applications
- Experience interfacing with other design disciplines (e.g., Mechanical Design, Heat Transfer) to develop integrated aerodynamic technologies
- Strong analytical skills, ability to multitask, handle complicated tasks efficiently, and be highly engaged in team discussions
- Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
- Familiarity with commercial CFD packages such as ANSYS CFX and/or STAR CCM+, and geometry-creation tools like Creo (preferred)
