About this role
Expert-level Systems Engineers assist in leading engineering teams in a multi-discipline approach to requirements engineering, solutions engineering, scheduling, reliability, resiliency, services development, integration, test and evaluation, maintainability and analysis. This ensures timely and accurate GEOINT across the National System of Geospatial-intelligence (NSG), Allied System of Geospatial-intelligence (ASG) and Federal Agencies. TS/SCI Clearance is required.
Day-to-day duties include directing requirements engineering, planning and traceability of user requirements, architectures, procedures, and advising on changes to solutions designs based on requirements and new technology. They capture and translate mission needs into systems requirements and support analyses and allocation to architecture components. Systems integration activities and leading Analysis of Alternatives, Trade Studies, and Engineering Assessments are key tasks.
The role operates at the level of integrating multiple Major Systems Acquisitions across organizational, agency, department, and governmental boundaries. They oversee and coordinate Senior-, Mid-, and Junior-level contractor Systems Engineers while providing expert advice on vision, strategy, plans, needs, and capability developments. Collaboration spans NSG, ASG, and Federal Agencies.
Professionals engage in strategic technical planning, project management, performance engineering, risk management, and interface design. They gain exposure to DoD/IC processes, cloud infrastructures, and geospatial intelligence missions. This expert position supports advanced systems engineering in a high-stakes defense environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Systems Engineering or in a related technical or scientific fields such as Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering Management, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related STEM degree program
- Expert-level experience working in government or industry in relevant work areas including DoD/IC Acquisition Process, Requirements Process, PPBES Process or systems engineering of large complex System of Systems or Service Oriented Architecture environments
- Experience with and strong understanding of systems engineering lifecycle
- Experience with Cloud Computing and/or Spectral Science
- Knowledge of NGA and NRO mission, workflow, systems/segments, and interfaces
- Self-starter who actively seeks out and assembles the appropriate parties to discover technical specifications or work-out technical issues
- Experienced in leading integration efforts across multiple segments/systems
- Experienced with assessing segment/system technical impacts across multiple organizations when integrating technical capabilities into the Enterprise
Responsibilities
- Assist the Government in directing requirements engineering, solutions engineering, scheduling, reliability, resiliency, services development, integration, test and evaluation, maintainability and analysis across NSG, ASG and Federal Agencies
- Assist with planning, analysis/traceability of user requirements, architectures traceability, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing systems
- Advise the Government on proposed changes to solutions designs based on analysis of requirements and new technology
- Assist the Government in the capture and translation of mission and customer requirements/needs into systems/capability requirements and solutions
- Support the analyses and allocation of requirements to systems architecture components and executing programs
- Assist the Government in performing systems integration activities
- Assist in leading Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs), Course of Actions (CoAs), Trade Studies, and Engineering Assessments
- Oversee and coordinate the work of Senior-, Mid-, and Junior-level contractor Systems Engineers
