This intern role supports manufacturing and quality processes in a production environment.

Support Receiving Inspection activities by assisting with inspection and verification of incoming mechanical components, identifying non-conformances, and collaborating on corrective actions. Analyze and propose efficiency improvements for inspection processes, including methods, tooling, and workflow to reduce time and handling risk.

Generate and update mechanical assembly documentation for New Product Introduction activities, including assembly instructions, bills of materials, torque specifications, and tooling requirements. Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams during NPI builds to capture lessons learned and implement design-for-manufacturability improvements.

Design and 3D-print custom fixtures, gauges, and aids to support Quality and Manufacturing operations. Assist with general mechanical engineering tasks like CAD modeling and dimensional analysis. Develop practical skills by applying mechanical engineering principles hands-on.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a related 2- or 4-year program such as Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related program
  • Minimum 1 year of program credits
  • Comfortable utilizing Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and hands-on learning capabilities

Responsibilities

  • Support Receiving Inspection activities by assisting with the inspection and verification of incoming mechanical components, identify non-conformances, document findings, and collaborate with Quality and Supply Chain teams to support corrective actions and disposition decisions
  • Analyze and propose efficiency improvements for receiving inspection processes, including inspection methods, tooling, documentation, and workflow to reduce inspection time, minimize handling risk, and improve repeatability while maintaining compliance
  • Generate and update mechanical assembly documentation in support of New Product Introduction activities, including assembly instructions, bills of materials, torque specifications, and tooling or fixture requirements
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams during NPI builds to support first-article assemblies, capture lessons learned, and implement design-for-manufacturability improvements
  • Design and 3D-print custom fixtures, gauges, and aids to support Quality and Manufacturing operations
  • Assist with general mechanical engineering support tasks, including basic CAD modeling, dimensional analysis, documentation updates, and data collection for manufacturing and quality improvements
  • Develop practical engineering skills by applying fundamental mechanical engineering principles in a production environment with hands-on experience in inspection processes and continuous improvement
