About this role

In the 12-month Manufacturing Engineering Placement, you'll gain invaluable skills and experience covering all aspects of manufacturing engineering from production to Lean Six Sigma through research and development. At GE Aerospace, your work will contribute to the production of advanced jet engines, components, and integrated systems that power commercial and military aircraft. You'll join a team embracing drive, curiosity, and unique ideas.

Work within the Manufacturing Engineering team focusing on technical aspects of manufacturing, including production processes, tooling design, and advanced technologies. Support new product introduction, improve efficiency, and drive innovation, including building Standard Operations Procedures and local process improvements. Alternatively, join the Lean Manufacturing team on continuous improvement initiatives, waste reduction, and process optimization.

Opportunities available at Cheltenham, Cardiff, Caledonian (Prestwick, Scotland), and Gloucester (Dowty) sites; select based on geography and site focus. Cheltenham, with over 1,600 employees, designs, develops, and manufactures aircraft power distribution and avionics systems for global aviation. Contribute to major international projects relied upon for decades.

Receive coaching, mentoring, and connections with other placement students across the UK. Requirements

  • Pursuing degree in manufacturing, mechanical, or aerospace engineering
  • Understanding of production processes and tooling
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma principles
  • Knowledge of manufacturing technologies
  • Interest in aerospace components and systems
  • Ability to analyze and improve manufacturing processes
  • Experience with process optimization tools
