At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle. Its first stage is fully reusable and designed to be human-capable.

You will work across subsystems to support integrated solutions achieving our vision of millions living in space. Utilize system engineering practices predicated on technical skills to develop processes and ensure consistent implementations. Serve in system integration with multi-discipline teams for technical solutions.

Serving as Principal Systems Engineer, work across multi-disciplinary teams, business units, and partners for New Glenn Stage 1 reusable booster. Apply and enhance system engineering practices for sound technical design and compliance. Drive innovative solutions in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Provide engineering leadership, mentoring, and technical oversight through the product lifecycle. Impact safe human spaceflight with technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality. Passion for our mission and vision is required.

Requirements

  • Passion for mission: Providing low-cost access to space!
  • B.S. in an engineering-related field, with 10+ years of design, development or analysis experience.
  • Experience with space launch system development, production, and operations.
  • Experience in full lifecycle development of aerospace systems, including system design, analysis, test, requirements and verification.
  • Strong technical skills in aerospace systems engineering practices across disciplines.
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams for system integration and technical solutions.
  • Technical judgment to drive solutions in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex technical trade studies and analyses to support key design, operational, and programmatic decisions.
  • Provide real-time support for integrated vehicle tests, launch operations, and refurbishment.
  • Provide guidance on requirements, risk management, nonconformance resolution, test execution, and vehicle operation.
  • Lead engineering and program team effort to find root causes of complex issues during build and test.
  • Lead integrated, cross-functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, and business disciplines for corrective actions.
  • Assess technical risks, disposition accordingly, formulate mitigating action plans, and drive execution.
  • Define, manage, review, and approve operating requirements and critical performance interfaces across subsystems.
  • Provide engineering leadership, mentoring, and technical oversight throughout the product lifecycle.
