About this role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Production Engineering Senior Manager to join our Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Production & Industrial Engineering (P&IE) Fabrication Team. This role requires on-site presence in Sheffield, England, with occasional travel to Puget Sound and other UK/US sites. Work directly with local Sheffield management to develop and inspire a diverse team of manufacturing engineers (ME), liaison engineers (LE), industrial engineers (IE), and equipment & tool engineers (E&TE). Create safe and high-quality production system solutions for BCA airplane programs. Liaise with other Boeing business unit Production Engineering capabilities for broader company benefit.
Represent US-based BCA ME, LE, IE, and E&TE functional teams while supporting technical excellence and integration between Sheffield and global teams. Provide guidance on technical approaches to ME build plan design, NC programming, equipment and tooling design, and production system solutions. Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, operations and supply chain teams.
Develop and implement strategic engineering initiatives to ensure success of the Boeing Sheffield Fabrication site. Build capability and capacity of Sheffield teams for more complex work statements. Lead the digital strategy, drive process improvements, and strengthen global partnerships between UK-based and US-based teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree or higher in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (or similar)
- Experience working directly in a Manufacturing environment (fabrication or assembly factories or within Advanced Manufacturing)
- Strong Production Engineering background with breadth and depth of experiences
- Leadership experience developing diverse teams of manufacturing, liaison, industrial, and equipment & tool engineers
- Knowledge of ME build plan design, NC programming, and equipment & tooling
- Familiarity with DFM, Lean, and Six Sigma principles in production environments
- Experience integrating production system solutions in aerospace fabrication
Responsibilities
- Represent US-based BCA ME, LE, IE, and E&TE functional teams
- Support technical excellence and integration between Sheffield and global Production and Industrial Engineering teams
- Provide support and guidance on technical approaches to ME build plan design, NC programming, equipment and tooling design, and production system solutions
- Develop and implement strategic engineering initiatives to ensure success of the Boeing Sheffield Fabrication site
- Build capability and capacity of Sheffield teams to perform more complex statement of work
- Lead and develop a team of production engineers and first-level managers at the Sheffield site
- Drive process improvements (DFM, Lean, Six Sigma principles) to improve safety, product quality, reduce cost and increase throughput
- Lead the digital strategy for the site
