As a Propulsion Engineer on the Starship Thermal & Fluids analysis team, you will ensure that fluid consumables are in the right place and at the right conditions.
You will run pre-mission analysis on attitude control systems, propellant conditions, and tank pressurization systems. The focus is to maximize performance while staying robust for missions to Earth orbit, the Moon, Mars, and beyond. Engineering decisions directly improve vehicle performance and reliability for a fully reusable transportation system.
The role requires close coordination across propulsion, fluids, and operations groups at SpaceX. You will automate workflows to reduce per-mission engineering investment and pursue both performance improvements and operational simplicity. Quality documentation of analysis supports reduced miss-rate and higher team efficiency.
Peer reviews and continuous refinement of thermal and fluid models form a core part of daily work. The position offers the opportunity to shape analysis methods that support Starship development and future deep-space transportation systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
- 1+ years of experience using engineering simulation software such as MATLAB (student project team and internship experience qualifies).
- Experience with 0-D and 1-D thermal/fluid networks.
- Working knowledge of scripting languages (specifically Python).
- Strong understanding of spacecraft and/or launch vehicle propulsion systems and fluid components.
- Ability to deliver against an aggressive schedule.

- Pursue performance and robustness improvements for Starship fluid systems.

- Review peer work for technical accuracy and consistency.
