About this role

The Aero Alliance Gas Turbine Repair Engineer supports all technical activities inside the Avenza LM Service Shop for assigned engines. This role covers aero-derivative gas turbines including LM2500, LM6000, and LM9000 derived from GE aero engines. The position also manages special tools design and industrialization, reporting to the Engineering Manager – Gate 0 leader.

Day-to-day involves creating engine-specific work scopes and shop routers to prepare for induction. Lead incoming inspections, review disassembly, and answer shop operators' technical questions. Inspect parts to define status as clean & inspect, ship to repair, or scrap, then identify needed extra-works.

Interact with customers by creating Visual Inspection Reports to agree on final work scopes and handling technical visits. Support Gate 3 team during re-assembly and troubleshoot engine testing issues linked to shop activities. Collaborate in a specialized overhaul environment focused on LM aero-derivative gas turbines.

Contribute to continuous improvement by writing procedures and assembly forms. Support new technologies and product introductions for engine overhauls. Document all activities through Final Reports and assist field troubleshooting tied to shop work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering (or Technical High School Diploma with 5 years of experience) or equivalent experience
  • Basic knowledge of Mechanics
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Fluency in Italian and English
  • Ability to synthesize complex technical information
  • Solution-oriented problem solver

Responsibilities

  • Create engine specific work scopes
  • Create shop routers to prepare operations for engine induction
  • Lead incoming inspection at engine induction
  • Review engine disassembly and answer shop operators' technical questions
  • Inspect and define status of each part: Clean & inspect/Ship to repair/Scrap
  • Define extra-works needed from a technical standpoint
  • Create Visual Inspection Report to discuss engine status with customers
  • Support Gate 3 team on technical issues during engine re-assembly and testing troubleshooting
