About this role
At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight.
The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit focused on space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit. Apply broad multi-disciplinary engineering knowledge, skills, and methods to ensure spacecraft satisfies customer needs through rigorous systems engineering practices. As part of the Blue Ring Spacecraft Systems Engineering team, help shape requirements, system designs, and operations to meet program needs.
Assist in the definition and verification of system requirements, interfaces, architecture, and con ops. Work with all program interfaces including Assembly, Integration, &T, Mission Systems, Launch Vehicle, Payloads, and Mission Operations. The position requires strong collaboration within the SSE team and across the entire program.
In this fast-paced and dynamic environment, contribute to innovative solutions while demonstrating personal leadership, technical competence, judgement, and commitment to the highest technical standards. The role supports development, manufacturing, and operation of satellite systems addressing space mobility challenges.
Requirements
- Broad multi-disciplinary engineering knowledge, skills, and methods for spacecraft systems
- Experience applying rigorous systems engineering practices including requirements management
- Familiarity with CONOPs development, interface definition, system architecture, and verification methods
- Ability to decompose requirements into system design and functional block diagrams
- Knowledge of verification and validation strategies for hardware, software, and integrated subsystems
- Top Secret clearance required
- Experience and familiarity with flight software desired
Responsibilities
- Work with the program’s Lead Systems Engineer to ensure compliance with design standards, processes, and best practices
- Apply technical principles and tools in CONOPs development, requirements definition and analysis, and interface definition
- Decompose high-level requirements into lower-level system architecture, design requirements, and functional block diagrams
- Work with subsystems to ensure proper requirements definition, verification and validation plans align with system and mission objectives
- Coordinate with specialty engineering functions in support of subsystem development teams
- Oversee verification and validation strategies, plans, and processes to ensure software, hardware, and integrated subsystems meet requirements
- Create and oversee execution of test plans, procedures, and generation of results reports
- Collaborate with program elements including I&T, ground systems, flight operations, mission management, and systems architecture
Benefits
- Culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion
- Work on reusable space vehicles and systems
- Travel expected up to 10% of the time
