The Production Engineer owns all facets of turbine component repair including training, production support, corrective action, continuous improvement, and maturity. They develop new techniques, tools, methods, and equipment to improve process maturity while meeting business goals.

Turbine component repair involves dimensional and coating restoration of high pressure turbine components using welding, machining, and heat treat operations. The role provides technical support for customers and production, monitors yield and rework, dispositions non-conforming product, and performs root cause corrective action. Engineers optimize processes with lean problem-solving for quantifiable business impact.

Collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team environment to develop component designs and repairs meeting site, Chromalloy, and customer requirements for cost, performance, and durability. Engage with other site engineers on projects using CI tools to impact operational and financial performance. Assist in technical decisions on product and process design.

Develop and maintain work instructions and repair specifications for FAA approval while implementing SPC in the repair process. Prepare technical reports, specifications, procedures, manuals, and presentations for all levels of customers. Train less experienced staff and work in lab and field environments with occasional travel.

Requirements

  • 3-7 years of experience as a Process or Product Engineer
  • BS Engineering (Mechanical preferred)
  • Experience with turbine component repair utilizing welding, machining, and heat treat operations
  • Knowledge of FAA repair specifications and approvals
  • Proficiency in CI tools, lean problem-solving, and SPC
  • Project management skills considering technical, budgetary, manpower, and schedule requirements
  • Ability to troubleshoot process/production problems and implement sustainable solutions

  • Apply CI tools and concepts on repair process to improve operational metrics
  • Optimize the production process and product design using robust lean problem-solving methodology
  • Develop KPIs to effectively manage process and product outcomes
  • Utilize project management skills to lead assigned projects to successful completion
  • Collaborate in multi-disciplinary team to develop component designs and repairs
  • Develop and maintain work instructions and repair specifications for FAA approval
  • Implement SPC in the repair process and identify tooling improvements
