As a Propulsion Engineer at Kennedy Space Center, support the Commercial Crew Program with expertise in propulsion and fluid systems like system design, reliability, and material compatibility. Oversee chemical rocket propulsion systems for human spacecraft and review test plans, reports, anomalies, and hazard reports.

Work alongside NASA aerospace engineers and partners to develop innovative, risk-informed solutions for propulsion and pressurized systems. Identify system risks, assess mitigation plans, and participate in program risk management, including presentations for the Chief Engineer's Office.

Serve on the Mission Support Team for real-time spacecraft operations monitoring and anomaly investigation. Act as part of the technical authority chain for design certification, system acceptance, and flight readiness processes to incorporate new technologies and improve reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 5-10 years of related experience
  • Progressive experience working on complex, integrated systems in test, R&D, or flight hardware environments
  • Proven understanding of spacecraft fluid systems including valves, regulators, tanks, and propulsion interfaces
  • Proven experience working across mechanical, electrical, controls, and instrumentation disciplines
  • Strong background in test planning and execution, data analysis, troubleshooting, and performance correlation
  • Experience in designing with manufacturability and installation focus

Responsibilities

  • Oversee chemical rocket propulsion systems for human spacecraft
  • Develop propulsion and pressurized systems with new or improved components, materials, processes, and techniques
  • Review test plans, test reports, anomalies, variances, hazard reports, and verification closure rationale
  • Identify and assess systems risks and mitigation plans, participating in program risk management
  • Work with partners to develop innovative, risk-informed solutions and convey recommendations to Program and Chief Engineers
  • Serve as member of Mission Support Team for real-time on-console monitoring of spacecraft operations and anomaly investigation
  • Work alongside NASA engineers to incorporate new technologies, improve reliability, and reduce ownership costs
  • Serve in technical authority chain for design certification, system acceptance, and flight readiness
