This role is part of Lunar Permanence, building Blue Moon landers for lunar crew and cargo transport.

As a Senior Aerospace Systems Engineer, lead vehicle-level system safety practices for Transporter. Perform Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and lead Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) across subsystems. Design analyses to inform design teams and implement hazard controls.

Develop and implement a System Safety Program Plan for safety milestones throughout the vehicle lifecycle. Ensure compliance with AFSPCMAN 91-710 range safety requirements. Coordinate safety products across engineering fields in a fast-paced environment.

Apply technical expertise, leadership, and commitment to quality for safe human spaceflight. Use system safety products to drive design changes and assist reliability analyses. Passion for our mission is essential to positively impact spaceflight history.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, or related technical subject area
  • Highly knowledgeable of systems engineering practices, integration processes, and mission/safety critical systems
  • Experience working and delivery of systems safety analyses on complex systems, including anomalies/root cause corrective actions
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
  • Ability to coordinate safety analysis products across collaborators and experts from different engineering fields
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills and excellent organization skills
  • Experience with AFSPCMAN 91-710 Range Safety requirements
  • Experience with tools such as Jama, Cameo, Confluence, and JIRA

Responsibilities

  • Perform and lead Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA), Hazard Reports, Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analyses (FMECA), reliability analysis, and develop mitigation plans
  • Ensure compliance with AFSPCMAN 91-710 range safety requirements
  • Ensure traceability between system and subsystem functions, requirements, and safety artifacts
  • Use system safety products to perform overall vehicle safety analysis and drive design changes
  • Assist SLD organization in representing vehicle element within SLD architecture for reliability analyses
