This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, including Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across facilities. Apply standard engineering methods to design, develop, and implement manufacturing processes for efficient aerospace product production. Share impact on transforming how rockets are made and operated.
Support development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of carrying people and payloads to orbit and beyond. Provide shipside/lineside support on the manufacturing floor for flight hardware. Manage non-conformance reports from generation to closure.
Thrive in a dynamic startup environment on integrated cross-functional teams. Excel with hands-on experience even if not in aerospace, continuously seeking opportunities to learn and improve. Craft manufacturing plans including bill of materials, work instructions, and tool lists.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering
- 3+ years (Level II) or 5+ years (Level III) experience in aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicle structures, automotive manufacturing or similar
- Hands-on experience with Machining (3-6 Axis Mill, VTL or HTL, EDM, Waterjet processes), Chemical and Heat Treatment post-processing of components
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing, including knowledge of GD&T
- Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc)
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships
- Hands-on experience with building flight hardware
Responsibilities
- Translate engineering intent and drawings into fully functional hardware ready for test, qualification, and flight by crafting manufacturing bill of materials and work instructions
- Identify tools and equipment required for manufacturing flight hardware
- Provide shipside/lineside support on the manufacturing floor
- Generate, manage, and close non-conformance reports (NCR)
- Support introduction of new products by crafting manufacturing plan artifacts including build plans, duration estimates, index plans, and tool lists
