About this role

CesiumAstro develops out-of-the-box communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. This role manages the Systems Engineering department, developing standard processes for requirements management, Verification & Validation plans, conceptual design, and the Systems Engineering Lifecycle. The Senior Manager leads the team in developing complex, state-of-the-art space vehicles and payload systems.

Deploy resources to programs, maintain processes, handle customer interfaces, mentor staff, evaluate performance, coordinate activities, and support career development. Lead requirements definition and decomposition, concept of operations (CONOPS) development, verification planning, and risk assessment. Serve as the primary technical contact with customers and Program Management on active programs.

Work in a dynamic and cross-functional environment that fosters learning, development, and engagement across the organization. Collaborate closely with business development, conceptual design, and other functional engineering teams on architecture concepts and enabling technologies for communications systems. Promote a culture of innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, conditional resident, asylee, refugee, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
  • Experience leading Systems Engineering teams in development of space vehicles and payload systems for space and airborne applications
  • Proficiency in requirements definition and decomposition, CONOPS development, verification planning, and risk assessment
  • Knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle processes including requirements management and V&V
  • Ability to serve as primary technical contact with customers and Program Management
  • Background in architecture concepts and enabling technologies for satellite and UAV communications systems
  • Skills in mentoring, performance evaluation, and career development of engineering staff
