About this role
Due to an exciting period of growth, GKN Aerospace seeks an experienced Operations Manager, known internally as Operations Team Leader, to join the East Cowes facilities. Reporting to a Group Leader, the role leads a small team of operations and inspection staff in aerospace assembly. Candidates must come from a similar manufacturing assembly background, with aerospace preferred.
Achieve People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cash and Cost targets through disciplined deployment of the Lean Operating Model. Attain Operational Excellence across the designated area in line with Performance Centre objectives. Maintain active involvement in problem solving using a 'Go to Gemba' approach, aiming for 95% of issues resolved within the zone.
Create a 'Great Place To Work' by developing and empowering first-class Team Members, driving continuous improvement, safe working, and open dialogue. Role-model behaviours aligned to GKN Aerospace value drivers and Culture Principles. Hold Team Members accountable while providing coaching to close performance gaps.
Exemplify a safety-first mindset, ensuring Health, Safety and Environmental policies are applied. Lead teams to understand and deliver PSQDCC targets. Flexibility required to cover shift patterns including 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm weekly rotation, and core 8am-4.30pm shifts.
Requirements
- Previous similar experience gained within a manufacturing assembly background (aerospace preferred)
- Experience leading operations and inspection staff in aerospace assembly
- Knowledge of Lean Operating Model and PSQDCC targets
- Proven ability in problem solving using 'Go to Gemba' approach
- Demonstrated leadership in creating continuous improvement culture
- Familiarity with safety, quality and delivery standards in manufacturing

- Ensure disciplined execution of Daily Management and Standardised work via Leader Standard Work
- Manage Zone budget and make difficult decisions as agreed with Group Leader
