About this role

Lead the Airframe CAD Designer team at Cirrus Aircraft, overseeing 6-8 designers for new product and aircraft designs. Hold functional and technical responsibility for team performance and output. Focus on ensuring technical competency and consistency across the group.

Organize workload distribution to support engineering projects and ensure timely data deliveries by managing resources effectively. Work directly with Engineering to complete designs, incorporate change orders, and release detailed drawing packages. Create and revise class A surfaces, solid models, and drawings using Creo Parametric.

Standardize CAD (CREO/PDM) skills across the team and train members in geometric dimensioning and tolerance standards. Assist in growing team knowledge of composite aircraft design and manufacturing processes. Maintain required Continue Education Units (CEUs) for self and team.

Operate in a cross-functional organization, collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams. Emphasize planning, organization, and attention to detail in daily operations. Pursue continuous improvement and professional development to enhance team capabilities.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of related experience
  • Associate’s Degree or comparable work experience
  • Experience in advanced 3D CAD surfacing design, preferred
  • At least 4 years’ experience using Creo Parametric, preferred
  • At least 2 years’ experience using Windchill PDMLink, preferred
  • Strong understanding of top-down modeling principles and practices
  • Proficiency in geometric dimensioning and tolerance
  • Proficient in using multiple manufacturing processes, like weldments, sheet metal forming, CNC machining, metal part assembly and composite layup drawings experience
