IAG Defence & National Security (DNS) is part of IAG, a specialist advisory firm supporting complex infrastructure, Defence and national security programs across Australia. The DNS team works closely with Commonwealth agencies and industry partners to deliver specialist expertise into nationally significant programs. The Systems Engineer conducts engineering activities across the project including JIC System, Common Item TDL procurement and AUSTIN capabilities. This role requires working closely with the project execution team to ensure engineering requirements guide delivery and introduction into service of capability. The position supports the project with balanced engineering advice and risk communication.

Requirements
- Sound understanding and application of Safety Case Management
- Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aeronautical etc Stage 1 or 2 professional engineering competencies as defined by Engineers Australia and recognised under the Washington Accord (Mandatory)
- Minimum 3 years demonstrated experience in developing and managing project Engineering program(s) (Mandatory)
- Demonstrated experience in developing Engineering plans, procedures and outcome reports
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management
- Knowledge and understanding of conducting engineering programs in Defence acquisition projects (Desirable)
- Knowledge of Tactical Data Links for communication (Desirable)
Responsibilities
- Conduct engineering activities across the project including JIC System, Common Item TDL procurement and AUSTIN capabilities
- Support the planning and execution of the project engineering program
- Lead and manage a small team of shared engineering practitioners
- Participate and lead in engineering engagement with industry
- Contribute to and govern requirement specifications, engineering management, system safety, configuration management, risk management plans and project engineering strategy
- Coordinate engineering managers' activities with internal and external project stakeholders
- Provide authoritative, balanced and reasoned engineering advice to project leadership
- Support or execute whole of system level certification activities
