This Airframe Structures Engineer Co-op generates drawings and documents for substantiating new or revised airframe designs.

The position is onsite in Duluth, MN from August 2024 through May 2025, part-time up to 20 hours per week. Responsibilities include interfacing with design engineers on new airframe designs or revisions to existing production approved designs. Structural sizing uses both classical hand calculations and FEA for composite and metal parts.

Generate documentation of final design analysis to support production or prototype drawing release. Create design reviews to support design approvals and product gate reviews. Work alongside advanced design and sustaining teams at Cirrus Aircraft headquarters.

Requirements

  • Upper division student within two years of graduation
  • Pursuing relevant degree and successfully completed courses in Statics & Dynamics, Mechanics of Materials, Materials Science, Machine Component Design
  • Able to pass pre-employment drug screen
  • Able to complete entire duration of co-op
  • Able to secure local housing for duration of co-op

Responsibilities

  • Interface with design engineers in advanced design or sustaining working on new airframe designs or revisions to existing production approved designs
