Long Beach, US · Full-time · $155,000 – $220,000
About this role
Odys builds safe, sustainable aircraft to cut travel time in half on the world's busiest corridors. The flagship Alta enables travelers to skip big-airport hassle using city helipads and local airports for cities less than 1,000 miles apart. As Senior Flight Controls Engineer, you shape UAV behavior from concept to real-world flight.
The Flight Dynamics and Controls team designs, implements, and validates control algorithms for precise, stable, agile flight. You design, implement, and tune flight control laws for large UAVs while developing autopilot architecture and guidance algorithms. Daily work includes improving system simulation models and analyzing flight data.
Collaborate closely with aerodynamics, mechanical, software, and flight test teams for seamless integration. The team focuses on fast iteration loops, completing transition flight faster than peers. Expert engineers from deep tech and aerospace bring experience in drones, automotive production, and electrified vehicles.
This role offers hands-on development, real-time testing, and flight validation to directly impact UAV flight. Work with launch partners like Fiji Airways, Honeywell, Aramex, and US Navy on deployments starting late 2025. Join a team mastering aircraft certification for commercial logistics and more.

- Strong understanding of flight dynamics and control theory
- Experience with modern flight control architectures and FBW (Fly-by-Wire) systems
- Solid understanding of guidance, navigation and state estimation algorithms
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and tune flight control laws for a large UAV
- Develop and refine autopilot architecture, guidance and navigation algorithms
- Improve full system simulation model to support development needs
- Collaborate with aerodynamics, controls and mechanical design teams to rapidly iterate on designs
- Plan and execute MIL/SIL/HIL simulations, ground tests, and flight tests
- Develop test procedures and analyze flight data to validate control system performance
- Work closely with the flight test team to ensure safe and efficient execution of test campaigns
