CesiumAstro develops out-of-the-box communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and space platforms. The Senior Manager of Systems Engineering leads the department in developing complex space vehicles and payload systems for space and airborne applications. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or protected individuals eligible for U.S. Department of State authorizations.
This role manages functional aspects including standard processes for requirements management, verification and validation plans, conceptual design, and the systems engineering lifecycle. Responsibilities include deploying resources to programs, customer interfaces, mentoring, performance evaluation, and career development. The team leads requirements definition, decomposition, CONOPS development, verification planning, and risk assessment.
Works in close collaboration with business development, conceptual design, and other functional engineering teams on architecture concepts and enabling technologies for communications systems. Serves as primary technical contact with customers and Program Management on active programs. Fosters a dynamic, cross-functional environment for hands-on, interactive, and autonomous work.
Leads skilled Systems Engineers, promoting innovation, efficiency, continuous improvement, and company culture engagement. Drives accountability to meet milestones and customer expectations for quality and delivery. Supports professional growth through task assignments, feedback, training, and inclusive culture building.
Requirements
- U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, conditional resident, asylee, refugee, or eligible for U.S. Department of State authorizations
- Experience leading systems engineering teams in development of complex space vehicles and payload systems
- Proficiency in requirements definition, decomposition, and management processes
- Expertise in concept of operations (CONOPS) development, verification planning, and risk assessment
- Ability to serve as primary technical contact with customers and Program Management
- Strong collaboration skills with business development, conceptual design, and functional engineering teams
- Functional management experience including mentoring, performance evaluation, and career development
