About this role

IAG Defence & National Security (DNS) supports complex infrastructure, Defence and national security programs across Australia. The Systems Engineer (Verification & Validation) role is accountable to the Engineering Manager to perform design, integration and testing within an integrated workforce. This requires in-depth knowledge of legislative frameworks, government decision making, Land Materiel Safety Manual (LMSM), Defence Aviation Safety Regulation and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.

Maintain engineering artefacts like Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) and Technical Certification Plan (TCP) for CAF16 Systems. Support engineering and configuration management activities, develop/review capability engineering requirements and procedural documentation. Assist Engineering Manager and System Managers, interface between teams to develop systems engineering, technical certification and integration documents.

Requirements

  • Engineering experience and qualifications
  • Chartered Engineer
  • Demonstrated experience and familiarity with CASG project engineering activities and planning
  • Demonstrated experience and familiarity with Systems Engineering, preferably within CASG/Defence environment (SEMP, Technical Certification Plans, Requirements Management)
  • Demonstrated experience and familiarity with software system safety, security and managing technical risk
  • Demonstrated experience in Verification & Validation (developing, conducting, providing recommendations/outcomes)
  • Knowledge/experience of Defence C2 systems/applications
  • Strong understanding of modern networking, computers and operating systems

Responsibilities

  • Maintain engineering related artefacts (Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP), Technical Certification Plan (TCP)) for CAF16 Systems
  • Support the engineering and configuration management activities for CAF16
  • Assist and provide guidance to the Engineering Manager and System Managers for engineering and configuration management
  • Develop/review capability engineering requirements and procedural documentation
  • Interface between CAF16 Engineering Manager and CAF16 System Managers to develop systems engineering, technical certification and integration documents
  • Assist the CAF16 Engineering Manager to prepare for Configuration Control Boards (CCBs) and JC2SPO Engineering Review Boards (ERB)
  • Perform quality control on engineering documentation submitted to the CoA by the vendors
  • Assist CAF16 and JC2SPO engineering with engineering audits of support services vendors
