This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, developing Blue Moon landers and sustainable infrastructure for lunar transport.

As a Senior Aerospace Systems Engineer, you will lead vehicle-level system safety practices for Transporter. Perform Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and lead Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) across subsystems. Design and conduct analyses to inform design teams and ensure hazard controls.

Develop and implement a System Safety Program Plan to facilitate safety milestones throughout the vehicle lifecycle. Work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with experts from different engineering fields. Ensure compliance with AFSPCMAN 91-710 range safety requirements and traceability of safety artifacts.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, or related technical subject area
  • Highly knowledgeable of systems engineering practices, integration processes, and mission/safety critical systems
  • Experience working and delivery of systems safety analyses on complex systems and working anomalies/root cause corrective actions
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
  • Ability to coordinate safety analysis products across collaborators and experts from different engineering fields to develop safety and reliability products
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills and excellent organization skills
  • Experience with AFSPCMAN 91-710 Range Safety requirements
  • Experience with tools such as Jama, Cameo, Confluence, and JIRA

Responsibilities

  • Perform and lead engineering activities including Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA), Hazard Reports, Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analyses (FMECA), reliability analysis, and developing mitigation plans
  • Ensure compliance with AFSPCMAN 91-710 range safety requirements
  • Ensure traceability between system and subsystem functions, requirements, and safety artifacts
  • Use system safety products to perform an overall safety analysis of the vehicle to assist the design process and drive design changes where needed
  • Assist SLD organization in representing vehicle element within SLD architecture for reliability analyses
