About this role
ReOrbit is looking for a Senior Electric Propulsion Engineer to push forward the development of propulsion systems for the Small Satcom project. Join a very experienced team embarking on the challenging mission of shrinking the size and reducing the cost of a GEO satellite while keeping its performance and life to maximum capacity. This role can be based in Helsinki, Finland or the UK.
Work with previous experience on electric propulsion systems mainly on GEO communications satellites from a system-level perspective. Be a versatile engineer confident to get on and get things done, big on teamwork and flexible in approach. Enjoy working with partners and suppliers, comfortable asking difficult questions alongside existing propulsion engineers.
Handle the entire process of designing, implementing and testing propulsion systems. Conduct mission requirements analysis including propulsion operation modes in all phases like Orbit Raising and GEO Station Keeping. Perform EPS trade-off analysis and subsystem architecture definition based on mission needs.

Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years working within propulsion engineering or similar areas such as Mechanical / Mechatronics within the GEO space industry
- Knowledge and professional experience of electrical propulsion subsystems
- Experience in GEO communication satellite projects, including operations
- Ability to analyse data, derive conclusions, and manage design documentation as well as review and approve design changes
- Comfortable working closely with external vendors and consortium partners
- Fluent written and spoken skills in English
Responsibilities
- Conduct mission requirements analysis including propulsion operation modes in all phases (Orbit Raising, GEO Station Keeping)
- Perform EPS trade-off analysis and subsystem architecture definition based on mission requirement analysis
- Define and evaluate Thruster layout and configuration options
- Evaluate Thruster Pointing Mechanism alternatives (gimbals, arms), pros/cons, constraints and interfaces
- Develop EPS requirement specification based on previous analyses
- Analyze propellant budget and allocation, including alternatives for Propulsion operations in GEO
- Develop tools to estimate maneuvers and fuel allocation
- Manage interfaces analysis (mechanical, thermal, electrical, system level)
