About this role
Heart Aerospace develops the ES-30, a regional hybrid-electric airplane with 30 passengers, 200 km electric zero-emission range, and 800 km extended hybrid range. Targeting type certification by end of decade. Seeking highly motivated Senior Turbomachinery Engineer for Propulsion team.
Lead design and integration of turbomachinery components, including fuel system and pitch control system. Interface across mechanical, thermal, electrical, and control systems. Deliver fully integrated and certifiable propulsion unit.
We are expanding R&D hub in Los Angeles to advance hybrid-electric propulsion system. Join Propulsion team to lead turbomachinery design, execute system-level tests like engine and propeller stands. Collaborate with suppliers for certifiable subsystems.
Take full ownership over design, fabrication, and certification of hybrid powertrain. Gain hands-on involvement in cutting-edge hybrid-electric aviation technology. Contribute to revolutionary regional aircraft propulsion advancements.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional experience working with propulsion components such as gas turbines, thermal management systems, propellers, and ancillary systems
- Hands-on experience with propulsion or powertrain test stands, including instrumentation, controls, and mechanical assembly
- Experience with CAD (e.g., Siemens NX), system integration, and PLM tools
- Understanding of certification requirements (EASA CS-23/25 or FAA FAR Part 23/25)
- Knowledge of drivetrain dynamics, rotor balancing, or propeller aerodynamics
Responsibilities
- Lead design and integration of turbomachinery components, including fuel system and pitch control system
- Take full ownership over design, fabrication, and certification of the hybrid powertrain
- Lead design of turbomachinery, including combustion systems, fluid analysis, high-speed rotating machinery
- Lead and execute system-level tests, such as engine and propeller test stands
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure delivery of integrated, certifiable subsystems
- Interface across mechanical, thermal, electrical, and control systems for propulsion integration
